To limit global warming to 1.5℃ within 12 years, what can we do? Managing the carbon footprint of the buildings is an important element.

USGBC is proud to launch the inaugural Carbon Challenge Award in partnership with Dow, aiming to provide structure, recognition and affirmation of the industry's commitment to a sustainable built environment and leadership in reducing the carbon emissions.

JOIN THE CARBON CHALLENGE

WHAT IS IT?

With the intention of making a low-carbon planet, U.S. Green Building
Council (USGBC) North Asia is proud to launch the first Carbon Challenge
Award in partnership with Dow, identifying and recognizing best practices
and showcasing how the learnings from top performing buildings can be
incorporated into new constructions.

There are only 12 years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5℃, beyond which will worsen the risks of unprecedented drought, floods, wildfires and extreme heat. Less carbon, better life.

WHY THE CARBON CHALLENGE?

Building sector, construction and operation together, account for nearly
40% of energy-related carbon dioxide emissions when upstream power
generation is included[1]. The energy intensity per square meter of the
global building sector needs to decrease on average by 30% by 2030
(compared to 2015) to be on track to meet global climate ambitions set
forth in the Paris Agreement.

TAKE ACTION NOW!

Across the entire region, architects, builders, property developers and
others are challenged to achieve high-performing, resilient buildings and
communities. Now is the time to demonstrate leadership and gain recognition
for those buildings that are influencing, informing and inspiring the
high-performance planning, design, construction and operations processes.
